The Urgency of Seeking Spiritual Awareness and Escaping Ignorance in Attar's Mokhtar Nameh (Chapter 18, Poem 42)
In Chapter 18, Poem 42 of Mokhtar Nameh, Attar emphasizes the critical importance of attaining spiritual awareness (آگاهی, agahi) before physical death. The poem warns against the tragedy of returning to dust in a state of ignorance (بیخبر, bi-khabar) and urges the spiritual seeker to hasten in uncovering the divine secret. Attar suggests that once this profound awareness is achieved, the seeker can perceive the divine truth permeating all of existence, metaphorically expressed as finding it in 'every hair from the moon to the fish.'
