The Value of Movement, Exertion, and Enduring Hardship in Sanai's Section 47

In Section 47 of the Hadiqat al-Haqiqah, Sanai expounds on the necessity of movement (harakat), travel (sayr), and exertion (jahd) for spiritual growth and self-refinement. He warns against over-indulging the body and heart in ease and comfort (symbolized by honey, 'asal'), which leads to laziness ('kasal'). Using the metaphor of oil rising above water after undergoing processing and heat, Sanai illustrates how enduring hardship and active striving elevates a person's status and brings spiritual treasures.
