Book One - Section 32 - The Vizier Killing Himself in Seclusion
Original content
English translation
After that, forty more days he shut the door— He killed himself and freed himself from his own existence. When the people learned of his death, Over his grave it became a place of resurrection. So many people gathered at his grave, Tearing their hair and rending their garments in uproar for him— Only God could count that number— From Arabs and Turks, from Romans and Kurds. They put his dust upon their heads, They saw his pain as the remedy for their own. Those multitudes, for a month over his grave, Made blood flow freely from both their eyes.
