She wished to see our daughter as a prospect, But by chance the daughter is at the maktab. He said again: "Whether she brings barley or bran, With heart and soul I will make her my bride." She has a son who is absent from the city — Handsome, clever, nimble, and a good provider. The Sufi said: "We are poor, wretched, and lacking; The Khatun's kin are wealthy and distinguished." How can this be their kafū in marriage? One door is of wood and another of ivory. In nikāḥ, both partners must be kafū, Otherwise it grows strained and no ease remains.
