This concept articulates the central teaching of Section 9 of Kashf al-Mahjub. Hujwiri presents the created world (عالم) as the dwelling place of God's secrets (اسرار) and the repository of His trusts (ودایع), while its substances, accidents, elements, bodies, and natures function collectively as a veil (حجاب) over those secrets. To affirm the independent reality of any created thing within the station of Divine Unity (توحید) would itself be a hidden form of shirk. God therefore keeps creation in the condition of veiling, so that each nature rests content in its own realm by His command and spirits become occupied with their temperament — leaving intellects unable to grasp the divine secrets and the subtleties of nearness (لطایف قرب) concealed. Thus the human being remains veiled by its own existence within the shadow of heedlessness (غفلت). The passage grounds the book's title, Kashf al-Mahjub (the Unveiling of the Veiled), as the very task of piercing this veil.
