This concept explores the theme of ultimate self-effacement in Attar's Mokhtar Nameh (Chapter 29, Poem 17). The poem uses the dual imagery of dust (khak) and ashes (khakestar) to symbolize the complete annihilation of the lover. The physical body, bearing the heavy trust of divine love, is humbled into dust beneath the Beloved's feet, representing total submission. Simultaneously, the heart is consumed by the intense, burning distress of yearning until it is reduced to ashes.
