Treatments for Deafness
Ear horns were the beginning, which can be simulated by creating a cup over your ear with a hand. There are also hearing aids which amplify environmental sounds. Cochlear implants deliver electrical stimuli directly to the cochlea if the receptors are damaged. So far there is no evidence that hair cells in the ear can be regrown through life.

Hearing Aids
A patient is diagnosed with profound hearing loss. Medical tests confirm that the sensory hair cells inside their cochlea are irreversibly damaged and can no longer convert sound vibrations into electrical signals for the brain. Standard amplification devices that just make sounds louder have proven ineffective for this patient. Based on this specific type of damage, which intervention is most likely to be recommended?
