Tryptamine is an indolamine metabolite of the essential amino acid, tryptophan. The structure of tryptamine is a shared feature of certain aminergic neuromodulators such as serotonin and psilocybin.

- Neurons use certain gas molecules that dissolve in water (soluble gases) to communicate information
