Ultramicrotome

An ultramicrotome is a specialized device used to cut specimens into extremely thin sections. In the preparation of samples for a transmission electron microscope (TEM), it is used to slice cells that have been dehydrated and embedded in solidified plastic resin, allowing them to be cut thinly without causing damage.
