Using the Second Derivative to Prove Isoprofit Curve Concavity

The concavity of an isoprofit curve can be formally demonstrated by calculating its second derivative with respect to employment (NN). This mathematical procedure shows that the slope of the curve, dw/dNdw/dN, diminishes as the level of employment rises. A decreasing slope confirms that the curve becomes progressively flatter as NN increases, which is the defining characteristic of its concave shape.
