Vicarious Fear Learning (Modeling)
This is a pathway for acquiring phobias where an individual learns to fear a stimulus by observing the fearful reactions of others. A person can develop a phobia without any direct negative experience, simply by witnessing someone else's fear response to an object or situation. This phenomenon has been observed in both humans and nonhuman primates.
