Virtual Reality (VR) Technology for Cognitive Resilience
Virtual Reality (VR) technology has been utilized in military training environments to aid against cognitive resilience to stressful events. When paired with cognitive-behavioral therapy, it safely exposes military personnel who have PTSD to anxiety. This is where specific stimuli happen so that reintegration of cognition occurs with effective treatment. VR also motivates adaptive responses in military personnel. By pursuing stress assessments and decreasing the effects of stress on performance, VR technology training can influence cognitive resilience. This would allow military personnel to be psychologically and cognitively ready for challenging situations.
