We cannot make people our problems to solve, for example we cannot label Black and Brown people as the problem when it comes to disease, crime, etc.

- Roy Wilkins argued that Black people should have a stake in the computing revolution and that computing systems could be used to look at race unbiasedly.
- Charlton McIlwain states that automated criminal justice information systems target Black people through predictive policing, facial recognition technology, and risk-scoring systems.
- MCllwain states that if more people pursued Wilkin's ideas, we'd be in a different place today.
