Wertheimer's Tachistoscope Insight

In the early 20th century, Max Wertheimer demonstrated that individuals perceive motion in rapidly flickering static images—an insight that came to him while using a child's toy tachistoscope. This observation helped form the belief that perception involves more than simply combining sensory stimuli.
