Decentralized applications (dApps) are applications that run on a peer-to-peer network of computers (such as a blockchain) rather than on a single centralized server. They function similarly to traditional applications but operate without a central controlling authority, offering benefits like censorship resistance and high uptime.

Where to Find Dapps

Despite their youth, Dapps are already offering many services on blockchain networks including: 
- Playing games, including betting
- Exchanging money 
- Creating digital identities
- Hosting marketplaces 

In Q2 of 2020, Dapps transaction volume had hit 12 billion which was a 4.5 billion increase from that years previous quarter.

Once the drawbacks in scalability, security and user experience are solved, decentralized apps will become more popular.
