Why the No-Shirking Wage Curve is Above the Reservation Wage Curve

The no-shirking wage (NSW) curve is always positioned at a higher wage level than the reservation wage curve. This vertical gap exists because the NSW must not only be high enough to attract a worker (i.e., meet their reservation wage) but must also compensate them for the cost of their effort (cc) and provide an additional employment rent, which serves as the financial incentive to work diligently and not risk being fired for shirking.
