Withdrawal in Avoidant Relationships

Those with avoidant attachment may use withdrawal as a method to avoid conflict with their partner. Within the relationship, it was found that there is a positive association between one partner's withdrawal and the other partner's demand/aggression response. Avoidant attachment predicted lower relationship satisfaction for the individual, more so than their partner. Avoidant individuals often struggle with intimacy, leading to dissatisfaction and ultimately shorter relationships, though their partners may become accustomed to this dynamic.
