Adam as the Comprehensive Locus of the Divine Names and Attributes in Jami's Haft Awrang (Section 24)
In Section 24 of Jami's Haft Awrang (the Second Discourse), Jami turns from the creation of the cosmos to the creation of Adam. Before Adam, the whole world was already a collection of mirrors and sealed treasuries, each treasure holding the gem of a single Divine Name — yet no single locus reflected the Named (مسمی) Himself, and none gathered the Names together (مظهر جمعیت اسما). The King of Eternity (شاه ازل) therefore chose a gem from the sea of pre-eternity and fashioned Adam: making his heart the treasury of divine secrets and his face the dawning-place of divine lights. Whatever was manifest and whatever was hidden God deposited in him, so that Adam became the meeting-place of the two seas of temporal origination and eternity (مجمع بحرین حدوث و قدم) and was taught the Names (علم الاسماء).
