English translation

Before any moisture fell from the cloud of purity, And the rose of Adam's purity had not yet grown, The world was, one by one, a series of mirrors, Or rather, entirely a collection of treasuries. Over each treasure stood a different talisman, The cash within it was the jewel of a different Name. Yet it bore no sign of the Named One, Possessing no locus for the integration of all Names. The King of Eternity desired such a manifestation; He selected a pearl from the ocean of Pre-eternity. He made Adam's heart the treasury of His secrets, And made his face the rising-place of His lights. Whatever He held manifest, He bestowed upon him; Whatever He wished hidden, He inscribed within him. Through both outward form and inner meaning together, He became the junction of the two seas of temporality and eternity. The 'Knowledge of the Names' was the writing in his ledger; The fermentation of his clay was the shell of his pearl. He entrusted a wheat-like hue to his skin; For that reason, He called him by no name other than Adam. He cast his shadow upon the highest heaven, And made him the object of prostration for the hosts of angels. Except for the heads of those stricken by separation, Every face was laid in the dust of that pure one's path. The banquet of nobility was illuminated by his face; Whoever saw his face fixed their eyes upon it. When He saw everyone's eyes gazing sharply at his face, He drew the indigo mark of 'Adam disobeyed' upon him. Then, to ward off harm from his state, He cast a ray of 'He relented towards him' upon him. The darkness of his disobedience was removed; The blackness of his indigo mark became a banner of light. The journey of his existence attained subtlety; The cycle of his perfection led him to the Vicegerency. He took possession of the realm of divine Names, And gained an infinite kingdom. His radiance shone upon both man and woman; Whoever sought anything from him obtained it. He became a mirror such that when anyone's eye Looked upon it, they saw God and nothing else. Indeed, within that darkness-dispelling heart, There was no witness or witnessed except God. O you who have come onto this long and rugged road, And have descended from his loins generation after generation! Do not turn your back of loyalty upon his jewel; Do not lay the hand of cruelty upon his waist. It is a pity for you to have the form of Adam, While the inner meaning of Satan has become your companion. It is easy for the cover of the Holy Book To be wrapped around the fables of the accursed demon. With the cloak of purity on your body and under your arm, You have concealed the book of hypocrisy and deceit. You have a wolfish heart in the form of Joseph—what for? If there is no true reality behind the form, why the regret? Since you have abandoned the origin, which is the meaning, Why have you set your heart upon the branch? Be appreciative of your own jewel; Be the assayer of your own silver and gold. If you have become pure gold, happy are you! Otherwise, what remedy is there for you but the fire? Kindle a fire of longing and seeking, And burn away any dross and deceit you find. Purify the substance of the heart from accidental qualities; Cleanse the eye of intellect from self-interest. Draw back the skirt of your soul from pollution, For there is no peace in impurity. Break the bonds of the body and become free; Cast away the image of duality and become single-hearted. The provision for disciples is the path of freedom, And the way of those with mirror-like hearts is simplicity. Be a simple-hearted one, praiseworthy in essence, Pure from the color of the forms of the universe, So that when you step out of this stage, You may become the companion of the harmonious Beloved. You will stand before a Beauty, acting as a mirror, For nothing is better for the Beauty than a mirror.
