با هر که نشستی و نشد جمع دلت
وز تو نرمید زحمت آب و گلت

زنهار ز صحبتش گریزان می باش
ور نی نکنی روح عزیزان بحلت

از زمین و زمان برون بردت
وز مکین و مکان برون بردت

از می عشق بیخودت سازد
وز علایق مجردت سازد

دولت صحبت چنین پیری
مس قلب توراست اکسیری

تا شود زر مس تو زان اکسیر
بگسل از خویش و دامن آن گیر

بر در او مقیم و قائم باش
تا بود جان بجا ملازم باش

حرف خود بر تراش روز به روز
سبق فقر و درس عشق آموز

تا که آید ز فر دولت او
نسبت جذب عشق بر تو فرو

گرچه عاریت است اول کار
ملک گردد در آخر از تکرار

چیست تکرار آنکه جذب درون
چون شود کم ز شغل گوناگون

آوری سوی پیر روی نیاز
به سر رشته خود آیی باز

پیش آن آفتاب از سر نو
پست گردی برای یک پرتو

تا فتد بر تو پرتوی زان نور
افتی از گفت و گوی عالم دور

همچنین می کن این وظیفه ادا
مرة بعد مرة اخری

تا شود راسخ آن صفت زانسان
که نباشد زوال آن آسان

English translation

With whomever you sat and your heart did not find tranquility, And the trouble of your water and clay (physical nature) did not leave you, Beware, flee from their company! Otherwise, the souls of the beloved saints will not pardon you. [The true guide] takes you beyond earth and time, And takes you beyond both inhabitant and place. He makes you selfless with the wine of love, And makes you detached from worldly ties. The blessing of the companionship of such an elder (Pir) Is an elixir for the copper of your heart. So that your copper becomes gold through that elixir, Break away from yourself and grasp his hem. Reside and stand firm at his door; As long as life remains, be his constant attendant. Scrape away your own words day by day; Learn the lesson of spiritual poverty (faqr) and the teaching of love. Until, through the splendor of his blessing, The connection of love's attraction descends upon you. Although it is borrowed at the beginning of the work, It becomes your own property in the end through repetition. What is repetition? It is that when inner attraction Diminishes due to various worldly occupations, You turn your face of need toward the Pir, And return to the start of your own thread. Before that sun, anew, You lower yourself for the sake of a single ray. Until a ray of that light falls upon you, And you fall far from the chatter of the world. Likewise, perform this duty, Time after time, over and over. Until that quality becomes so deeply rooted in you That its decline will not be easy.
