Section 14 - Mamun's Advice to His Son

Original content

English translation

One night Mamun said to his son, 'O you whose fortune and luck are ever-increasing, When your turn for the caliphate arrives, May the greed for the world not be your bane. Whoever, from God's caliphate, Whose evil-commanding self is not satiated, Will hardly be satiated by that gold and silver Which he extorts sometimes from the widow and sometimes from the orphan.'
