Adolescents' perspective of dealing with a chronic illness: Trying to understand
Although adolescents wanted other, including health professionals, to try to understand, some also thought that people who don't live with a chronic illness cannot be expected to understand totally what the experience is like. "Trying to understand" helped to prepare adolescents to deal with those individuals who showed a lack of understanding toward what chronically ill adolescents may be experiencing or feeling.
