AlphaEvolve Searches Where Candidate Programs Can Be Evaluated
Google DeepMind's 2025-05-14 AlphaEvolve report describes language models proposing programs, automated evaluators running and scoring them, and evolutionary search improving promising candidates. Reported applications include computing optimizations and new mathematical solutions. This is a developer-reported, implemented search-and-check loop where selected objectives can be scored, not a general method for explaining unfamiliar results. Scope analysis: a candidate's score concerns the evaluator's specified checks; it does not establish claims beyond those checks or whether scientists understand why the result works. The evidence used here is a developer report; independent replication was not assessed in this slice.
Evidence status: developer_reported_bounded_demonstration.
