A housebroken animal has been trained not to urinate in unacceptable areas of someone's house. In some cases, it means that they are well-mannered and polite.

Definition of Housebroken

- These horses are generally 24-34 inches measured to their shoulders and weigh between 70-100 pounds

- The ADA defines service animals as animals that are trained to do work/tasks for someone who has a disability
- Organizations that serve the public should generally allow service animals to accompany their owners where the public would be allowed to go. There are expectations for this. For example, service animals may not be allowed into surgery rooms where they could interfere with a sterile environment. 
- Handler must be able to control service animal by leash/tether/harness/voice/signal/other effective controls.

ADA Guidelines for Service Animals

- Allergies and fears of dogs are not valid reasons to remove a service animal and both parties should be accommodated accordingly
- Service dogs can't be removed unless they are out of control and the owner can't control it, or they aren't housebroken. Organization members should give the ESA owner the opportunity to be in the vicinity without the ESA. 
- Payments for pets should be waived for owners with service animals
- Service animals should be allowed in places where regular pets aren't due to food being present in the room (i.e. a restaurant)
- People with service animals should not be treated differently or isolated
- Hotels can charge for damages done by service animals
- Staff are not required to care for someone's service animal.
