Aspartate

Aspartate is an example of an amino acid containing a side chain (R\text{R} group) of CH2COO\text{CH}_2\text{COO}. Its structure consists of a central carbon atom linked to a carboxyl group (COO\text{COO}^-), a hydrogen atom (H\text{H}), an amino group (NH3\text{NH}_3), and the CH2COO\text{CH}_2\text{COO} side chain.
