Cannabis Use Disorder Diagnostic Markers
The presence of THCCOOH in urine is commonly used as a marker for detecting cannabis use. However, in frequent users, urine tests can yield positive results for weeks after last use, limiting their usefulness for certain purposes. Interpretation of urine test results requires expertise in testing methods. Despite this limitation, positive urine test results can be helpful when individuals deny cannabis use despite concerns from others. Ongoing developments aim to create more precise blood tests for detecting cannabinoids and explore the potential use of oral fluid tests for roadside drug testing in driving safety efforts.
