Centralizing Material Purchases Around One Primary Distributor

Purchase consolidation is a buying method in which a contractor sends most material orders for a job, or for several jobs, to one main distributor instead of spreading purchases across many vendors. This can improve buying power, simplify receiving and invoicing, and help the contractor earn preferred service. It works best when the main distributor is strong on stock, price, delivery, and compliance. Because no supplier is perfect, consolidation is safer when the business also maintains a backup supplier relationship.
