Checking leftover materials for return after a job phase

When a job phase ends, the foreman should review the remaining materials against the original takeoff and purchase order. Items that are unopened, undamaged, and still in their original packaging are usually eligible for return. The crew should identify these items as soon as possible because distributors often limit returns to a fixed window, commonly 30 to 90 days after purchase, and they usually require the original invoice or purchase order number. If the crew delays or cannot prove the purchase, the material is treated as a loss instead of a recoverable credit.
