Definition
Chromophores
Chromophores are pigments that absorb and reflect specific wavelengths of light, causing different colors to interact with them in distinct ways. In microscopy, these pigments are frequently added to specimens artificially through the use of stains, which serves to enhance the contrast and resolution of the resulting image.
