ERP designed to address eating disorders also utilizes a hierarchy system. In this case, its applied to the patient's feared foods and situations involving eating with the food they fear least at the bottom and one they fear the most at the top. Therapists use this to design the patient's menu plan. Therapists start out with foods that are feared the least and gradually adding foods that are more difficult for the patient to eat.
