Comorbidity of Eating Disorders and Obsessive Compulsive Disorder: Effectiveness of Treatment
Eating disorder treatment decreases OCD symptoms in addition to eating disorder symptoms. Just as severe symptoms of one of these disorders are associated with severe symptoms of the other, improvement of eating disorder symptoms is associated with the improvement of OCD symptoms and vice versa. However, treatment is most effective when specific OCD treatments are implemented in addition to eating disorder treatment.
