Training mindfulness can positively affect attention, especially in task-related aspects of sports. Outside of the context of sports, mindfulness training has been proven to improve selective attention, sustained attention, orienting attention, and attention flexibility. This improvement of one's attention is an essential mechanism of mindfulness to improve one's performance in sport.
