Conclusions for Gender Bias in the DSM-V on Autism and Asperger's Syndrome
Overall, all the studies were able to conclude that the DSM-V was no better, if not marginally better at diagnosing autism spectrum disorder. However, the DSM-V had no effect on the pre-existing gender bias in diagnoses, though it did include a single statement saying that women with autism may not be diagnosed correctly due to the scale/spectrum of communication difficulties. However, it does not detail a separate diagnosis procedure for women, nor does it detail a list of symptoms that are female-specific (aka the female phenotype).
