Concept

Conservation in the Preoperational Stage

Conservation is the principle that an object's quantity or properties, such as size or volume, remain the same despite changes in its appearance, provided nothing is added or removed. A child's understanding of this concept is evaluated using Piaget's conservation tasks. Children in the preoperational stage typically have not yet developed this understanding.
