Correlation Between Spirituality and Depression

Research demonstrates a negative correlation between spirituality and depression. Patients who score higher on measures of spiritual involvement—such as belief in a higher authority, prioritizing prayer, and finding gratitude and purpose amid obstacles—are less likely to be depressed or tend to experience less severe depressive symptoms.
