Cost Structures and Market Price for a Bakery's Capacity Decision
This dataset describes a bakery's cost structure and the prevailing market price, as illustrated in a diagram. The market price is constant at €2.50 per loaf. The diagram presents two marginal cost (MC) scenarios corresponding to different production capacities. At the current (lower) capacity, the MC is €1.00 per loaf for the first 25 loaves, after which it rises to €3.00. If the bakery expands to a higher capacity, the MC remains at €1.00 per loaf for up to 40 loaves before increasing to €3.00. The associated average cost (AC) curve for the higher capacity is shown to be above the AC curve for the lower capacity at quantities greater than 40 loaves.
