Dataset Supporting Malthusian Predictions: English Wages and Population (1280-1800)

A dataset, referred to as Figure 1.12, provides evidence consistent with Malthusian theory by tracking population and living standards in England from 1280 to 1800. For each decade, it plots the total population against an index of average wages. This wage index, which serves as a proxy for living standards, is benchmarked against the average wage of 1860.
