Deep Brain Stimulation to the Nucleus Accumbens (NAcc DBS) for Anorexia Nervosa Treatment Side Effects

No fatalities occurred, but one patient had to remove their device due to rejection, and others reported mild side effects such as incision site pain, flushing, and sweating. These side effects either disappeared in a few days or were manageable by adjusting the voltage and other parameters of the DBS stimulator, with optimal parameters of 2.5 to 4.0V, 160 to 180 Hz, and 120 to 150 μs.
