Short Answer

Defining an Improved, Feasible Outcome

Imagine a graph where the vertical axis represents 'Bushels of Wheat' and the horizontal axis represents 'Hours of Leisure'. A downward-sloping curve shows all the technically possible combinations of wheat and leisure for a farmer in a season. A series of 'satisfaction curves' represent the farmer's preferences, with curves further from the origin indicating greater happiness. The farmer is currently at a point 'N' on the production curve. If the farmer wants to find a new production plan that is both technically possible and makes them at least as happy as they are at point 'N', what two conditions must this new plan satisfy in relation to the curves on the graph?
