Definition of par level for service-van inventory

A par level is the target quantity that should normally be kept on each truck-stock item. An owner or service manager sets these target amounts by looking at which kinds of jobs happen most often and which materials those jobs consume. Common items used on many calls, such as connectors, outlets, or standard breakers, are assigned higher par levels, while specialized parts may only need a small target amount. Using par levels turns restocking into a consistent checklist instead of a guess.
