Designing a Compensation Strategy for a Remote Workforce

A technology firm is shifting its entire software quality assurance (QA) team to a fully remote work model. Previously, managers could easily observe the team's diligence and focus in the office. Now, with employees working from home, it is much more difficult to monitor their day-to-day effort levels. The firm is concerned that without direct supervision, the thoroughness of software testing might decline, leading to more bugs in the final products. As an economic consultant, you have been asked to propose a wage strategy to address this challenge. Describe the strategy you would recommend and explain the economic reasoning behind why it would be effective in motivating the remote QA team.
