Detachment and Divine Reliance in Discourse 21 of Asrar Nameh
In Section 1 of the Twenty-First Discourse of the Asrar Nameh, Attar of Nishapur offers moral counsel on the themes of worldly detachment and sincere reliance on God. The poem warns against arrogance stemming from property, wealth, and treasures, reminding the reader that the world has outlasted countless boastful individuals. Attar emphasizes that true worship must be luminous, sincere, and completely free from greed. He instructs that whenever assistance is needed, it should be sought exclusively from the divine threshold, asserting that true human contentment is found not in material accumulation, but in aligning one's own satisfaction with the divine will.
