Relation

Discussion (effects of social anxiety and social skills on academic performance)

  • Aside from the study's main goals, a strong relationship appeared between social skills and social anxiety based on comparisons between results for the SPAI and SSI.
  • Class rank predicted academic performance better than SAT scores.
  • Social anxiety among the participants was noticeable, and an insignificant effect on GPA was seen during the first semester. Generally, however, there is little evidence that social anxiety severely affects or worsens performance in college.
  • Emotional Control was highlighted for its strong association with enrollment status. Higher dropout rates correlated with higher emotional control. The team suggests that more time spent controlling emotions may lead to poor true relation with others that leads to isolation from the community.
