Results: Social anxiety and skills (effects of social anxiety and social skills on academic performance)

Participants were split into socially anxious and non-anxious groups. A graph is shown comparing SSI (Social Skills Inventory) skill levels for both groups based on each subscale.

  • Socially anxious students showed very low social expressivity and high social sensitivity.
  • Compared to nonanxious students, levels of emotional expressivity, emotional sensitivity, and emotional control were somewhat lower.
  • Socially anxious students had much lower social control than non-anxious students.
