Disparity in Treatment Rates Among Childhood Mental Disorders

The likelihood that a U.S. child (ages 8-15) will receive mental health treatment varies significantly depending on the type of disorder they have. Data from the National Institute of Mental Health shows that children with anxiety disorders are the least likely to receive care (approx. 32%), while those diagnosed with ADHD (approx. 48%) or a conduct disorder (approx. 46%) are treated more frequently.
