Effectiveness of Positive Reinforcement

Positive reinforcement is considered the most effective method for teaching a new behavior to a person or animal. Its power as a learning tool is demonstrated by real-world applications, such as a program in Dallas where second-grade students were paid $2 for each book they read and passed a quiz on. This incentive resulted in a significant increase in their reading comprehension, showcasing how adding a desirable stimulus can successfully increase a target behavior.
