Establishing Causality Through Scientific Experiments

To make statements about cause and effect, psychologists must conduct scientific experiments. Experiments are the only way to establish causality because they incorporate methods that eliminate, or control for, alternative explanations. This allows researchers to explore how changes in one variable directly cause changes in another variable.
