Ethical Concerns Regarding Fairness and Equality of PCEs
The use of PCEs by healthy individuals raises concerns about fairness and equality, particularly in competitive environments like academics or the workplace (especially in which a higher level of alertness and concentration are required). Those with access to PCEs may gain an artificial advantage, potentially widening existing social and economic inequalities. This creates an uneven playing field, where success may be influenced more by access to enhancement than by effort or ability, challenging the principle of merit-based achievement.
