Ethical Concerns Regarding Coercion and Social Pressure of PCEs

The increasing use of PCEs can create subtle but powerful social pressure for others to follow suit, especially in competitive environments like schools or workplaces. Even if individuals choose not to use PCEs for personal or ethical reasons, they may feel compelled to do so to keep up with peers who gain enhanced focus or productivity. This dynamic risks undermining true freedom of choice, turning voluntary use into a form of coercion driven by fear of falling behind or losing opportunities. Over time, such pressure could normalize PCE use and make abstaining socially or professionally costly.
