Euro Conversion Rates for the Peseta and Deutsche Mark

Upon the introduction of the euro in 1999, legacy currencies were exchanged for the new common currency at predetermined, fixed rates. For example, the Spanish peseta was converted at a rate of 166.4 pesetas to one euro, and the German Deutsche Mark was converted at 1.96 marks to one euro.
